How to make Beef Gelatin (Abe Ghalam)
Ingredients
  • Cow, calf, mutton or lamb bones
  • 1 medium onion
  • 3-4 garlic cloves
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • Water  
Directions
  • Clean and wash bones.
  • Wash, skin and chop onion.
  • Wash, skin and chop garlic.
  • In a pot, add all the ingredients together.
  • Make sure water level covers the bones.
  • Bring to boil uncovered.
  • Cover pot and let simmer on a low heat until cooked.
  • Cooking time will be around 8 hours or overnight.
  • Separate bones from liquid.
  • Keep liquid in the fridge for a few hours, then separate the fat / oil from the gelatin.
  • Now you can use this gelatin to make soup. 
Tips

You can cook bones or ghalams in a slow cooker overnight, but it's better to use smaller pieces.

You can store and freeze this food in an airtight container.

Always record the date on the container of food when storing in the freezer.
