Ingredients

6-8 servings

Directions
  • Clean the beans and barley and soak them in a big pot overnight.
  • The amount of water should be twice as much as the beans and barley.
  • Add water, rice and gelatine to the beans and bring to boil.
  • Add salt, pepper, herbs and cook on a medium heat stirring occasionally.
  • When the beans are cooked well and the pottage thickens, add half of the fried onion and fried mint.
  • Skin and chop garlic and add to the pot.
  • Now add dried whey (kashk) and cook for 15 minutes.
  • Serve in a serving bowl, decorate with sa fried onion, fried mint and Kashk.
  • You can serve this ash (pottage) with bread as an appetizer or main.
  • Now enjoy (nooshe jan). 
Tips

If you’re in a hurry, you can soak the beans and barley for 3 hours in hot water. 

You can make meatballs earlier and freeze.

Always record the date on the container of food when storing in the fridge or freezer.
