Ingredients
  • 3-4 tablespoons fried onion (How to fry onion)
  • 4 teaspoons unsweetened tomato paste
  • 300g minced beef
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup yellow split peas (lapeh)
  • 1/4 cup verjuice or lemon juice
  • 2-3 cloves fresh, crushed garlic or 2-3 teaspoons of readymade garlic
  • 1/4 cup water
Directions
  • Wash and cook yellow split peas in water for 15 minutes.
  • Place fried onion in a pot.
  • Add tomato paste and fry for 2 minutes.
  • Now add minced beef (ground meat) and fry for 5 minutes.
  • Add cooked yellow split peas, garlic, salt, pepper, lemon juice and water.
  • Cover the pot and simmer for 20 minutes.
  • Now use according to the recipe in hand.  
Tips

You can store and freeze this food in an airtight container, so always make more for later use.

Always record the date on the container of food when storing in the freezer.
