How to make Meat and green beans mixture

Ingredients

makes 2 cups mixture

  • 3 tablespoons fried onion (pyaz dagh)
  • 1/2 cup yellow split peas
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 150g green beans
  • 250g lamb cut into small pieces
  • 1 teaspoon salt (add more if you like)
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons soya sauce 
Directions
  • Clean the green beans and cut into small pieces. Wash and drain.
  • Place fried onion in a pot, add tomato paste and fry for 30 seconds.
  • Add meat and fry for 5 minutes.
  • Now add yellow split peas (lapeh) and fry for another 5 minutes.
  • Add soya sauce, green beans and fry for 5 minutes.
  • Add water, cinnamon, cover and let simmer on a low heat for 1 to 2 hours or until the meat is cooked.
  • All the liquid should be evaporated from this mixture.
  • Use this mixture according to the recipe in hand.  
Tips

If you want to make this food faster, use the meat that cooks faster.

You can always freeze this mixture for when you need.

Always record the date on the container of food when storing in the freezer.
