How to make Steamed Rice (kateh)
Ingredients
  • 2 cups uncooked basmati rice
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 1 teaspoon butter
  • 3 cups water
Directions
  • Clean, wash and drain rice twice.
  • Place rice in a pot, add water, oil, salt and butter cover and bring to boil.
  • When all liquid has evaporated, bring the rice to the center of the pot.
  • Now cover the lid with paper towel or clean kitchen towel and leave to cook.
  • Cook rice for 15 minute, if you like to have tadig (crusty rice) cook the rice for longer.
Tips

The color and thickness of the tadig depends on the cooking time.
