Ingredients

4 Sernigs

  • 500g chicken pieces
  • 2 medium onions
  • 3 cups water to cook chicken in
  • 2 cups water to cook rice in
  • 8 garlic cloves
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric (optional)
  • 2 teaspoons salt to cook chicken
  • 2 extra teaspoons salt
  • 2 cups basmati rice
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon powder
  • 3 teaspoons liquid saffron (how to make liquid saffron)
Directions
  • Wash, skin and cut onions and garlic to pieces.
  • Clean and wash chicken pieces, then place in a pot with 2 teaspoons salt.
  • Add garlic, onion, 3 cups water, and bring to boil. Cook on medium heat for 20 minutes.
  • Separate chicken pieces from the liquid.
  • Wash rice and add to the chicken liquid.
  • Add 2 cups water, butter, saffron and 2 teaspoons salt. Bring to boil and cook until all the liquid evaporates.
  • Arrange the cooked chicken on top of the rice and sprinkle cinnamon on top.
  • Cover the lid with a kitchen cloth, cover the pot and cook for 30 minutes on medium heat.
  • Now enjoy (Nooshe jan).
Tips

Always taste the food at the end and adjust the salt and spices to your taste.
