Ingredients

Makes one cup

  • 1/2 cup oil
  • 1 medium fresh chopped onion, or 1 cup dried onion
  • 2 teaspoons turmeric
  • 1/2 cup water 
Directions

Using fresh onion

  • Wash skin and chop onion.
  • Place onion with oil in a saucepan or a pot.
  • Fry onion on high temperature until brown stir occasionally.
  • Add turmeric and stir for 30 seconds.

Using dried onion 

  • Place dried onion with oil in a saucepan. 
  • Fry for 30 seconds until onion changes colour stir constantly.
  • Add turmeric and stir for 10 seconds
  • Add water and stir for 1 minute or until water evaporates.
  • Now use according to the recipe in hand.

     

Tips

If you use dried onion, only fry it for a few seconds as it browns faster and will burn easily

You can store fried onion in the fridge for a few weeks. ..
