Ingredients

6-8 servings

  • 500g minced / ground beef
  • 4 big carrots
  • 2-3 potatoes
  • 1 medium onion
  • 1 cup cooked chickpeas powder (ard nokhodchi)
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 cup water
  • Oil for frying
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper and turmeric
  • 2 tablespoons fried onion (refer to the related video)
Directions
  • Wash, skin and grate 2 of the carrot.
  • Wash, skin and grate  onion.
  • In a pot, combine meat, grated carrot, onion, salt, pepper, turmeric and ard nokhodchi.
  • Mix all these ingredients adding water gradually.
  • Now take a small amount of the mixture, shape as a circle and make a hole in the middle.
  • Heat some oil in a frying pan, place the patties in the hot oil and fry.
  • Turn over the patties when one side is brown.
  • Now brown the other side.
  • Lay the patties on a paper towel to remove excess oil.
  • In a frying pan add fried onion and tomato paste and fry for 1 minute.
  • Add water, salt, lemon juice and cinnamon and bring to boil.
  • Now add the meat patties (shamies) to this sauce. Make sure you have enough sauce to cover all the shamies.
  • Wash, skin and slice the rest of the carrots and add them to the sauce. Cover and simmer on a lower heat until carrots are cooked.
  • Prepare your potato chips (refer to the related video).
  • Cooking time will be around 1 hour.
  • Decorate this food with chips and green peas and serve with bread as a main or light dish.
  • Now enjoy (nooshe jan). 
Tips

You can precook carrots and then add them to the sauce.
