How to make Sour Cherry syrup and drink (Sharbat Albaloo)

Ingredients
  • 1kg sour cherries
  • 1.5kg sugar
  • Lemon juice (juice of 1 lemon)
  • 3 cups water 
Directions
  • Clean cherries, then wash and drain again.
  • In a pot mix water and sugar and bring to boil.
  • Place sour cherries in a cotton bag, then place it in the boiling syrup, the way that the syrup just covers the cherries.
  • Make sure that top of the bag is away from the syrup.
  • Now cook it for10 minutes.
  • Add lemon juice.
  • To see if our sharbat (syrup) is ready, pour 2-3 tablespoons of the liquid in a small dish and let it cool.
  • If it is too runny you need to cook the syrup a few more minutes to get thicker syrup.
  • Now slowly transfer the bag out of the pot,to a bowl.
  • Store this syrup in a jar when it is cool.
  • Use this syrup to make cool drinks.
  • Now enjoy (Nooshe jan) 

 

Tips

You can serve the cooked cherries with tea or as a snack.
