Ingredients

6 servings

Directions
  • In a pot, mix fried herbs, fried onion, and water and bring to boil.
  • Cover and simmer on low heat for one hour.
  • Add chili powder.
  • Cut fish into small pieces and fry.
  • Place tamarind paste in a bowl and add a cup of hot water on top then mix.
  • Now strain the mixture using a strainer to get a smooth sauce.
  • Add tamarind sauce to the cooked herbs, mix and cook for 5 minutes.
  • Add fried fish to the pot, cover and simmer for 15 minutes.
  •   Serve this stew (khoresht) with rice (to make rice, refer to the Kateh or Chelo (refer to the related video)
  • Now enjoy (nooshe jan).
Tips

We don’t add any salt to this food as tamarind contains salt.

This is a hot dish and you can add as much chili powder as you like.

You can use dried herbs, if you don’t have access to the fresh herbs (to prepare herbs) (refer to the related video).

Cooking Tips
When you grill, remove the meat from the fridge one hour ahead of time, to allow them to reach room temperature.
To have a spreadable butter for your sandwiches, keep the butter in room temperature for 1 Hour, or place it in the microwave oven for 15 to 20 seconds. Times vary depending on the amount of butter you need.
